Central Park is my home away from home -always in awe of the impact the seasons have on the look and feel of the park - enamored with its fluctuating light, varying vegetation, abundance of flowers in the spring time and exuberant energies felt throughout the year. Winter though has another feel altogether. It has a quiet peacefulness with a majestic quality. Here are some pictures from a few weeks ago-during a period of an abundance of rain and snow.
As I walk up Fifth Avenue with the excitement of going to the conservatory gardens at 105th Street, I feel the trees surrounding me- yet at the same time making way as I continue down the street.

And as we say goodbye to winter- I welcome the spring with its lightness of air, blooming exploding flowers, bright shining sun making everything shimmer -creating new canvases filled with wondrous sights to see!

Thanks for winter atmosphere with a melancholic touch. So dark some of them are – like you have been painting on a dark canvas. Where I am we are waiting for the ashes to fall – hope this is not a prelude!! Great pictures. Steen
As the weather is getting warmer and spring has sprung in NYC, it is so nice to see the reminders of the recent winter -- especially as taken within one of my most favorite places in the city...Central Park. Thank you for that!
Jill - these are great photos, especially so because that winter feel is gone for now. It is nice to reminisce about winter after it is gone and anytime before January :-). The photos ARE lovely in that romantic winter feel. Great that you have access to Central Park and created art in the park.
Wonderful photos of Central Park...it's been years since I've been in the park but your photos were an easy transport...I could easily feel the moments and hear the quiet and the traffic...thank you for these!
Beautiful photos Jill. I love the winter landscape most probably as we have absolutely nothing like it here! I have the absolute unreality of all the emotion the pics evoke with none of the slushy realities, LOL! Love that pic with the dancing girls they must look wonderful wheb spring surrounds them, and the pic of the fence and arbour in the background too!

Oh Jill, I know I wrote a comment here, but must not have done it right, because it is gone. What I wrote was how much i love the lines of the trees and the iron, organic and geometric together, and how even muted in snow and mist they stand out and draw you in. i am in LOVE with that beautiful statue of the dancing ladies! gorgeous!! our family is planning a summer trip and my husby wants to go to new york in july. i'll have to find out where that is if we go, and where YOU are so i can take you to lunch. how wonderful that would be!
and how could you have snow again? mother nature is a fickle girl, doing so many silly and abnormal things this year. we had a day in the 70s in february, then it dropped to the 30s two days later.
