I know I am a bit slow when it comes to catching up with all the art apps currently out there- okay, any art app out there,  but so happy I just found this one- Fotor  on my iPhone while on my way to work.  Here are a few of my first starters with pictures ( many of which you may have already seen) from my phone.  Can't wait to create some new collages with some of my favorite photos from my computer!

A Glimpse, A Glance, A New Mixed Media Art Romance!

Here are some select sections of one of my recent mixed media artworks titled
"Triumph of Man".
It's a  24" x 18" canvas painted with acrylics and  filled with original old stamps, enhancements of some of my photos, a piece of the front page of an original 1964 New York World's Fair  brochure, architectural drawings and  ephemera creating
  layers and layers of textures.

This work is a metaphor for the achievements man has attained, built and layered on the discoveries of so many- each creating a  foundation for the unending  new  innovations within society.  I  attended the 1964 World's Fair as a child and remember being in such awe of these new  21st Century technologies- seemingly futuristic in nature. The experience of sitting in moving seats within dark cavernous exhibit halls- taken on a  journey to see striking  new designs  was just  miraculous.
Just think what new  revelations and discoveries  in science and technology will become the staple of American life in the next half century!
Within your own life, what would you like to create?

Art Without a Reason

We wake and open our day
With peace and the beginning of our creative selves. With pictures in our mind Of how our day will unfold
And hope that serendipity and synchronicity will abound and catch us by surprise So that we can believe that it will be a day of artful thoughts
Poetic sights
And inspirations that will take us through until the end of the night.
Then we can reflect, appreciate and think how we can gift and be gifted in our day to come.

A One Year Celebration of Jazworks

An amazing year has gone by - a year to nurture creativity, absorb all of the new visions of art in the everyday sights I see, and to appreciate and be patient with the continued ideas I have that I'm so eager to set free in the work I create. Today, I'm celebrating my one year jazworks anniversary by looking back at the paintings I've completed during this past year and looking at a couple of my favorite photos I've taken. But most exciting of all is my new collaborative altered book project InnerWorks I'm engaged in. It's the most spirited and meaningful project I've ever worked on-singularly and also for the first time within a group of such talented artists. I feel so connected to all my collaborators in their selection of themes - including earth tones, gift of the sea, Helen Keller, friendship, distressed elements and my theme of designs in nature. It's a euphoric feeling being a part of this magical journey filled with coincidences, synchronicites and astonishing discoveries each and every day. I will continue to make future posts on our progress including pictures and surprising stories that I've already encountered in my project so far.
