Central Park's Harlem Meer - on a Perfect Winter Day!

What a wonderful day in New York City it was to take a walk through the Harlem Meer (dutch word for lake) and the Charles A. Dana Discovery Center, an art and nature visitor's hub, viewing the birdfest of life waddling across the frozen lake - slipping and sliding across the ice while scavenging for food!
As you enter Central Park through the Conservatory Gardens, I'm always awe struck by the intricate designs in the stately entrance gate.
The beautiful fountain sits quietly- without the spring time spraying water flowing freely with flowers blooming colors everywhere. Now, there is a beautiful peaceful calm, with simple delicate lines throughout the winter foliage.
The flowers are now skeletal structures- beautiful, strong, wild, with a royal presence all their own!
The park corridors were empty, void of sounds with the exception of hidden birds chirping.
And the loud yet peaceful sounds of the park echos throughout its noble paths.
Love when the geese display such a beautiful line up.
The standout white swan painstakingly takes each step slowly across the ice.
And is there anything that can rival this pure simplistic beauty of swans joined together?
Happy New Year and all the very best for peace, joy, happiness and the ability to find bliss in each and every day!

And a very peaceful and joyful 2010 to you too! You have an eye for beauty and with these images it is like I am seeing Central Park for the first time again. Such wonder!

Stunning Jill; simply beautiful. I also think you should be commissioned by NYC's tourism board with your photos. They "sell" NY to me everytime.
PS. I am having a great deal of trouble with your blogger updates - I never see them AND I can't subscribe via email. I know other people are having trouble too. Have you thought about maybe letting blogger know these issues. They usually get back to you on these things. It's worth a crack!
Happy New Year and I hope 2010 is a blessed one for you!!

Oh Jill, these are glorious photogralphs. I love the swans the most, how they curl together, and the long grass, how it curls around itself too. Happy new year, and I wish you peace and happiness. roxanne

you always post the most magnificent photos! such an amazing photographer you are, sweet jilly!! debs is right -- you should be hired by the ny tourism board! and i have issues with your blog too, oddly. my main one is that 99% of the time that i try to post a comment or load a specific post, it crashes my browser. it will happen over and over and over until i give up. this has happened the last 4 times i've popped over to catch up. i am so glad that today is a happy browser day!
